StjarnaGloss Hjul - Colour Change Alloy Wheel Cleaner
Not just another iron remover – Hjul is a genuine all-round wheel cleaner that doubles up as a fallout remover.
You may have seen colour-changing wheel cleaners before, but ours is different. Hjul's thicker formula allows for extended dwell time, providing better cleaning performance. It contains soap to remove general road grime, the active ingredient to eliminate ferrous brake debris, and solvents to tackle tar spots.
Why Choose Hjul - Colour Change Alloy Wheel Cleaner
Thicker Formula For Better Dwell Time: Hjul’s thicker recipe ensures more contact time, effectively breaking down grime and dirt.
Multifunctional Cleaning: Combines iron removal, tar spot cleaning, and road grime removal in one product, making it a versatile wheel cleaner.
Ph-neutral: Safe for use on more sensitive wheel materials and finishes. However, always rinse thoroughly after use to ensure no residue remains.
Tar Spot Removal: Hjul’s solvent content softens and removes stubborn tar spots that are often mistaken for brake dust.
Also A Fallout Remover: Hjul doubles as an excellent fallout remover for your car’s bodywork, targeting iron deposits that might otherwise require claying.
How to Use
Application: Spray Hjul directly onto the wheels or bodywork (for fallout removal). Ensure even coverage and allow the product to dwell for a few minutes.
Colour Change: Watch as Hjul changes colour, indicating that it’s working to break down contaminants.
Rinse: Rinse thoroughly with water, ensuring all product is removed, especially from sensitive surfaces. Never let the product dry on the surface.
Repeat: For heavily contaminated areas, repeat the process if necessary.
How to Use
Q: What makes Hjul different from other colour change wheel cleaners?
A: Hjul features a thicker formula for better dwell time and contains additional cleaning agents like soap and solvents, making it more effective at removing both brake dust and road grime.
Q: Can I use Hjul on all wheel finishes?
A: Hjul is pH-neutral and safe for most wheel materials and finishes. However, always rinse thoroughly after use to avoid any potential staining. Refurbished wheels may have a single stage powder coat that is particularly susceptible to staining (see below) but OEM wheel finishes are usually fine.
Q: I have noticed chalky or milky deposits on dark wheels after use. What is this and how can I sort it out?
A: Strong chemicals can briefly weaken softer finishes during use, especially in hot conditions where they can dry out. Powder coated/refinished wheels are often far softer and more susceptible than OEM wheels. Once the finish has been weakened, alkali salts from the product and calcium carbonate (limescale) deposits from hard water can be trapped into the surface giving a milky, cloudy or chalky appearance. Assuming these are merely deposits and not physical etching, you can remove them with a polish (like Skara in our range), waterspot remover or mild acid, or even a microabrasive 'magic' sponge. If light chemical etching has occured, Skara will help to level the surface and bring back lustre and shine. Stronger etching may require harsher polishing techniques or even refinishing. Always proceed with caution, especially with refurb'd wheels: apply Hjul to wet wheels, never let it dry out on the finish, keep dwell time to a minimum and rinse well. Customers in hard water areas will see this far more often than those in soft water areas. If in doubt simply wash with Bubblor pH neutral shampoo which is still effective but extremely gentle to sensitive finishes.
Q: Does Hjul remove tar spots as well?
A: Hjul will soften tar spots, but for long-standing, multiple or stubborn tar deposits you may need Tjara, our dedicated tar remover.
Q: Can I use Hjul on a car with ceramic brakes?
A: Yes, Hjul is pH-neutral and safer for use with ceramics compared to strong alkali or acid wheel cleaners - however try to avoid overspray onto braking components and always rinse thoroughly.
Q: Can I use Hjul on my car’s bodywork?
A: Absolutely! Hjul is also effective as a fallout remover for iron deposits on bodywork. Just ensure you rinse thoroughly after use and avoid letting the product dry on metal trim or sensitive finishes.
Q: What size should I choose?
A: Hjul is available in four sizes (100ml, 500ml, 1L, and 5L) to suit your needs. The 100ml size is perfect for testing, while the 5L option offers the best value for regular use.
